Owen Luder

Owen is an architect who has been deeply involved over many years in Sports Stadia design including an unbuilt 1970 scheme for a super stadium for Sunderland FC. He has also been a judge in awards for football stadia design.

He was born in Islington and first saw Arsenal in a war time game at Charlton in 1941. The pre war team with Hapgood and Male, Bernard Joy, Dennis Compton, Ted Drake and Cliff Bastin. Leslie Compton - "post war old big head" - played at centre forward.

Owen followed Arsenal through the war-time matches at White Hart Lane. In the early post war years he stood under the Clock until he could afford to stand in the centre under the West Stand. A season-ticket holder continuously in the West upper tier stand from 1963 and now in Block 113 Upper Tier.at the Emirates.

Owen has admired the superb skills of many Arsenal players over the years but particularly Jimmy Logie, Liam Brady, Thierry Henry and the sublime Dennis Bergkamp. He believes the 2003-04 Invincibles were the best Arsenal team ever.
